(IB-JUNE 25, 2010) The closer contract negotiations between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. seem to be reaching a point where the fight may actually happen,

The now irrelevant Mayweather demanded Olympic-style blood testing debacle, which prevented the first attempts at a fight date scheduling, has been bowed down to by Pacquao and new reports surface that Mayweather, Jr demands a 60/40 purse split for the fight.
Mayweather, Jr. representatives deny involvement in any contract negotiations...PERIOD!
There has to be some sense of legitimacy that reports from both sides seem to be trying to give boxing fans the impression that this fight is of little concern to either Pacquiao or Mayweather, Jr. (more)

good point... i guess, floyd dont really care about this sport, soundly he just want the money he can get from this and the GBP is playing their role to earn as well. floyd is the dark side of this boxing sports, the more people listens to him the more this sport will die and lost its genuine beauty. pacman should be given the credit for being a good example.
Odds? Freakin' odds have been wrong all the time when it comes to Pacquiao. Hell, I made $$$$ in the Delahoya beatdown/retirement fight...same with Mayweather, let's see how much his behind can pay what his mouth had bought.

Floyd is the coward who's pretending that all these endless demands; PED accusations are still part of hyping the fight. what i like about Pacquiao is, if he's irritated by his opponent, he waits until he got them inside the ring and then expresses his 'opinion' and lets his fist do the talking. If Floyd mouths off (and he'll prolly will!) on Pacquiao, that'll just give Pacman more energy and excitement- and for the rest of us too! having said that- Go Floyd! show Pacman what you got!
Well said, "maybe". I think Floyd Mayweather has his own reasons for doing that one of it I believe is Legacy. How many times have you heard him say about his undefeated record? I'm not so specific about it but I guess almost a million times. So I really don't think he will give that up easily Pacquiao is a very high risk fight for him, yes that fight spells TENS of MILLIONS, but he can earn that without losing his pride without the embarrassment. We all have egos (include myself) if you have been in the pedestal for quite sometime you have a BIGGER ego. I think Floyd's ego should be in a highly superlative form. So they would make a tremendous effort to avoid the fight but at the same time Floyd would still look like he is the best pound for pound par non and his camp is doing a good job. Right now he is the Yahoo sports numero uno. Floyds camp did a very good job for them selves can't blame them.

Great article! Of all the people who accuse Pacquiao of illegal drugs, it's the Mayweathers? - the masters of illegal drugs, it runs in their blood.
Pacquiao didn't agree to RANDOM blood testing up until the day of the fight. He agreed to testing up until 14 days before the fight you IDIOT writer. Get your facts straight.
I will not say this is a good article but I do admit this is true...
Now, we must remember boxing is a sport that includes "mind battle" and or "psych war" strategy which is always implemented by people to obtain as much advantage before the fight start in the ring...
Muhammad Ali is an expert in this regard...and he had reaped a good no. of rewards as in his fights against smokin' Joe Fraizer and most notably that victory against the stronger-meaner big George foreman.
We never know as yet but this strategy (Psych war or mental jabbing) may had affected Pacquiao already and will probably give Floyd the advantage...that is if the fight happens...
I am one of the many who believe Floyd Mayweather Jr can knockout Manny Pacquiao...but I also am aware that Pacquiao has the power (if he can hit) Floyd...
In my opinion, Floyd has succeeded in his goal as far as "mental jabbing" is concern against Manny Pacquiao...and I guess the Filipino need to have his "psych war" strategist as well.

Eyes really were made to see things as they are. The world should honor and give the Mayweathers due respect. even they say a lot of undesirable things. By just looking at the Mayweathers' faces, my eyes tell me that they are the most wonderful and significant ingredients of man's evolutionary process. The countenances of their faces beyond reasonable doubt upholds the theory of Darwin that men came from the apes. No insults but i said eyes were made for seeing and a lot of times it is really difficult to deny one's self once you have seen a real ape and its semblance to humans.

The pacman pacquiao likewise has some attributes that would apparently share the mayweathers appearances but differ aesthetically in built, shades. color and shape of framework specifically the skull relative to the skull of the apes. The Mayweathers may have the stronger semblance to the apes' skull but my eyes would somehow say that the pacman's skull also come close to it.

I would love to see Pac vs Shane because that's an excitement fight. A fighter vs a fighter, heart vs heart. Unlike Pac vs Gayweather I won't spend even a single centavo on that boring fight. Just imagine a lion trying to catch a chita!
Maynutters say Pacman beats old or drained or beaten fighters. If I remember correctly, Mayweather's last fight was against a bloated up lightweight AND he also came in over weight. So whats worse, beating an old/drained/beaten bigger fighter at fair weight or beating a bloated smaller fighter and cheating weight?

why 60-40 in favor of fraud Maywether? I am an avid fans of boxing for three decades he fought a fight of a coward. The heart of a fighter could not be seen in his style, while Manny did his fight bravely. Why wont we showed thier tapes in public and let the people of the world be the judges of who between them a man who can draw the crowd not only the people in America but all over the world. To tell you frankly, I am not convinced and I really dont know of why people in America love Floyd in the ring?
People act like it's so impossible to keep speed and power without steroids. He trains so hard he has to eat 6000 calories otherwise his muscles deteriorate. The speed of his feet and his stance contribute to landing solid shots with power. He does a lot of plyometrics. Also doing plyometrics of his upperbody. Plyometrics work the nervous system which is what controls the muscles. Add that with muscle = Speed and Power. It's not steroids or drugs. It's hard work through proper training.
Just because Pacquiao doesn't spend the whole fight trying not to get hit doesn't mean he's not boxing. Pacquiao can't brawl anymore because his opponents are obviously bigger. See the reason why Pac can take hard hits because he's conditioned to take hits from bigger opponents. If you ever seen him spar a lot of his opponents are middleweights. If you're following Freddie Roach's game plan, you're boxing. Obviously Hatton and Floyd SR. are idiots together.

floyd's temporary retirement gave himself time to recuperate his brittle hands with the help of roids as xylocaine was not sufficient enough to ease the pain but by using roids in about 18 months did allow him get away from drug testing & the public eye.
